Weekend Wrap-Up: Echoes, Tours and The Bible as Hate Crimes

What Words Will Echo When You Are Gone?

This past week has been a very hard one.

It looks like the Lord will keep me humble with the proverbial 'thorn in my flesh' of one sort or another till the day He calls me home.

Amidst the trial I attempted to distract myself by listening to my most recent, favourite, apologist, Wes Huff. He referenced a hymn by Annie Flint, in relation to his own miraculous healing. I knew the hymn. Not its history.

The words of encouragement in that favourite hymn from my childhood - He Giveth More Grace, were penned from a permanent bed of illness which lasted for 40 years. They still echo through the years, every time I sing that hymn.

BONUS: Wes' infographics about Biblical history is amazing!

Also in my devotional this past week were Harriet Tubman's words echoed through time as an encouragement, because she trusted in God.

She taught and practiced persistence...

If you are tired, keep going

If you are scared, keep going

If you are hungry, keep going

If you want to taste freedom, keep going.

And I will add, If you're in pain, keep going.

But the greatest encouragement I found was in Hebrews 12:1- Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us...

So we journey on listening by faith to the great throng lining our way like in a marathon race, cheering us on. That image encourages me.

Suggested Articles

This week, 2 articles crossed my desk, which I hope you will take the time to investigate.

The first is about the coming Christian Persecution by the new laws (Bills C- 63 and Bill C-367) being passed in YOUR PARLIAMENT. You would want to keep your pulse on THIS ONE.

Here are a few things you can and SHOULD do

  1. READ AND UNDERSTAND THE BILL
  2. Connect with Christian groups who might be planning to take a stand:

... to see how you can join your voice with theirs against this onslaught.

3. Educate your Pastor about this. Get your church involved before it is too late.

The second article is for those who have forebears who fought in WWI and WWII, and would like to search the government archives for information about them.

Take a look at this from Library and Archives Canada:

To Recap...

Run With Endurance.

Sign up for an Ottawa Tour and plan to attend the Orientation Sessions.
