The King Is Coming

King Charles III Did you hear? The King is coming!! To Christians, that phrase evokes the idea of the return of Jesus Christ. But in its current context, it simply means that King Charles III, the titular head of Canada, is coming to Canada. In my last email, I posted a link to King Charles reminding the world, while visiting Italy, that he is the King of England AND Canada. This is what a king does. He protects his subjects. If you did not watch the video, you can watch it here. By stating the obvious, he refutes President Trump's claim about 'that imaginary line' dividing both countries and making Canada the 51st state. Prime Minister Carney held his first news conference on May 2nd. Watch the video to hear his announcement that his cabinet will be sworn in on May 12th, Parliament recalled on May 26th, and with King Charles delivering the speech from the throne on May 27th. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ottawa Walking Tour This would be the best time to take our Walking Tour. It's a great gift for Mother's Day too. ------------------------------------------------------- Sacrificial Service Damien Kureic a Christian Conservative Member of Parliament has just given up his seat so that his leader, Pierre Poilievre, can run in a byelection in his riding. He won his riding by getting 82% of the vote. Poilievre lost in his riding, but not without some election interference. Almost 100 independents registered as candidates in his riding, so it was a chore for his supporters to find his name. This is an act of selfless service which is so becoming of a Christian. This CBC story shows that the action is not without precedent. Whether you like or support the Conservatives or not, Christians in the party play an important role as 'watchmen on the wall'. They educate their Christian constituents about potential Bills that could be detrimental to the Christian community so they could publicize them and mobilize against them. Many of them have Christian staffers. They, and their staffers, engage in weekly Bible studies and prayer, and collaborate to host the annual National Prayer Breakfast that is growing exponentially in attendance. These Christian MPs hold back the forces of evil by making their voices heard. You might say that some don't, and you will be correct. But many do.
