Reminder... YES You Can Still Sign Up

We all read emails and then rush on with our lives. We intend to sign up for things, but we forget. I get it. We have competing demands on our time and interests. But I wanted to give you another opportunity to join me on Zoom for a very interesting story about Sir Joseph Flavelle. A rags-to-riches story. He was one of the many millionaire Methodists. His meatpacking business lives on in Maple Leaf Foods. We are doing a series on the Christian Millionaires of Toronto, who left important legacies in food processing, health care, education, and financial institutions. Flavelle was the prime mover behind the construction of Toronto General Hospital, and his influence lives on in more places than you might think! The story examines his legacy, which laid foundations in meatpacking, banking, insurance, health, and education. Toronto General Hospital, an all-boys school still existing in Toronto, and the University of Toronto bear his fingerprints. Information about the WWI war effort, which produced munitions, built airplanes, and even ships, astounds me. Sign up for the Lunch N' Learn on Wednesday, October 21st. from 12 pm to 1 pm (EST) Lunch N' Learn Session #9 Zoom link drops at 9 am tomorrow morning. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Sherbourne Street Methodist Church in Toronto was known as 'The Millionaires' Church'. This was because many wealthy businessmen were members. When he established his first business, he hung a plaque in his office that read, 'Not Slothful in Business, Fervent in Spirit, Serving the Lord - Romans 12:11.' -------------------------------------------- This year, there will be ONE LIMITED print run Calendars will be printed by the first week of November.
