Progress on The Crazy Idea Here's what the redesigned book cover for Our Biblical Legacy on Parliament Hill will look like, so purchasers won't confuse the free books with what's on the website. These are printed only for the National Day of Prayer. Did you notice the ad spaces too? Businesses that donate $250 can place a full-colour ad in one of those spaces. Businesses that donate $100 can place a black-and-white ad on the inside back cover for approximately the same size ad. Donations to Date I have set the target at 2,000 copies of the book. Cost includes taxes and shipping. Maybe I do not have enough faith to aim for 5,000 books. But if the Lord surprises my weak faith and provides enough funds for 5,000 copies, I will be praying, 'Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.' I haven't figured out how to make the thermometer dynamic as yet. But at this time, we have raised $3,371 with $1,139 to go. An extra $2,200 will help to print 5,000 books instead of 2,000. I pray that the Lord surprises me. ----------------------------------------- Next Lunch N' Learn: St Jean de Baptiste Day You won't want to miss this one. The attitude of Quebecois leadership has puzzled me since arriving in Canada over 30 years ago. I am still trying to understand the Quebec question. If you downloaded the slides I included two emails ago, I hope you read some startling information about Quebecers' attitudes at the leadership level. It seems that they are still fighting the battles of the Plains of Abraham from 1759. That England conquered New France and that the French became British subjects has been a bitter pill to swallow. They absolutely refuse to acknowledge Queen Victoria's birthday, or any celebration related to the British Crown, for that matter, but instead, they have come up with a flimsy excuse to celebrate the day. They attributed a celebratory day to someone of questionable heroism. You should have read, Previously, in 1918, Victoria Day was replaced by Fete de Dollard, celebrating Adam Dollard des Ormeaux, who led Algonquins and Hurons in an attack against the Iroquois at Long Sault, Quebec, for questionable reasons. Quebec does not celebrate Victoria Day, but it is still a holiday. They have named it instead, Journée Nationale des Patriotes (National Patriots Day). In 2003, the Parti Québécois established National Patriots Day to recognise the significance of the '‘Patriots of 1837''. Those who participated in the rebellion against the British Crown in 1837 were called ‘Patriotes', and that name was given to the Parti Canadien. Queen Victoria granted amnesty to those 'Patriotes'. Remember also that it was Quebec that burned down the Parliament buildings, not once, but twice. St. Jean de Baptiste Day is approaching. That will be the focus of the next Lunch N' Learn #8. I propose that all Canadians celebrate St. Jean Baptiste Day. I will explain why. The groundwork for Canada as a nation was laid in Champlain's eyewitness account of and participation in the very first settlement founded on June 24 1604. This settlement took place on the Feast Day of John the Baptist. This day is still celebrated in Eastern Europe as a Catholic feast day. I will include maps and drawings in the lesson. Here are samples of the information that will be on some slides. You can also listen to a podcast I recorded about St. Jean de Baptiste Day when I was in better health. I hope to do more podcasts soon.
