O Canada, Influencers & Dominion Day

Growing Influence - Bilingual Books

Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!
For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods (Psalm 96:2-4).

Just before Dominion Day in 2020, we printed The Legacy of 25 Scripture Verses on Parliament Hill.

In 2022 during the Freedom Convoy protest, requests were made to have access to the list of Scripture Verses for the Christians who were gathering around 'The Flame' on Parliament Hill, at 11 am daily, praying for Canada

We added a page to our website to help people identify the exact location of the 25 Scripture verses, to help their prayer time.

In 2023, I was told by many different groups that they were using the book for Bible studies AND to pray for Canada.

I also began to get requests to have the book translated in French.

In God's providence, He sent someone to translate, someone to edit, and finally someone to help me publish the bilingual version in 2024.

Only the Lord has done this and I am humbled by the way He works and the people He connects us to.

My premise holds: God uses People as INFLUENCERS. They INFLUENCE others to take action and create EVENTS which will be remembered in history.

God's up to something and I can't wait to see where this is going...

While we would not have the books in time for Dominion Day, we will have them shortly thereafter.

Until the Bilingual Version of The Legacy of 25 Scripture Verses on Parliament Hill is in hand...

The Publisher's Price holds...

You can order the book at the publisher's price of $7 Plus Shipping ($17 / each).

And if you want to arrange pickup from our location, then you just pay $7/each.

Forgetting From Whence We Came

If someone asked you how Canada began, what would you tell them?

Did it begin in New France? Did it begin with Confederation?

Watch my FIRST Podcast Episode, where I make a case for celebrating June 24th as a national holiday.

THAT's where I think Canada as a nation began!

Watch it and let me know what you think! And if you have any questions, then submit them here or at info@christianrootscanada.org

Ties That Bind

Ever since I immigrated to Canada over 30 years ago, I have been trying to understand the 'special status' given to Quebec.

For newcomers to Canada the only difference they might be aware of is the language difference. That is, until an issue arises where special consideration is given because of their 'special status'.

And that's why I think that English Canada has more in common with Quebec through St. Jean Baptiste Day and through our National Anthem.

Podcast Episode # 2 explains how Quebec gave us our National Anthem.

From sporting events to Remembrance Day celebrations, Canada's National Anthem is an iconic tune instantly recognized around the world. Believe it or not, it actually originated in Quebec!

Dominion Day/ aka Canada Day

Do you know why July 1st was originally recognized as Dominion Day?

Here's a clue: Our motto is, 'He shall have DOMINION also from sea to sea'.

That comes from Psalm 72:8, and apart from being displayed on our Coat of Arms, it is engraved in the concrete of the Peace Tower, over the East stained glass windows.

WHY DOMINION??? Well, you have to read the story of Sir Leonard Tilley, a Christian Father of Confederation whose idea it was to call our country a Dominion.

The proposal was approved by the 33 Fathers of Confederation, Queen Victoria and the British Parliament.

Happy #DominionDay!

Dominion Day Unravelled by Pierre Trudeau

Do you know what happened 'at 4 o’clock on Friday, July 9, 1982'?

Here's the account:

... the House of Commons was almost empty. The 13 parliamentarians taking up space in the 282-seat chamber were, by most accounts, half asleep as they began Private Members’ Hour.
But then one of the more wakeful Liberals noticed the Tory MPs were slow to arrive in the chamber.
Someone — exactly who has never been firmly identified — remembered Bill C-201, a Private Member’s Bill from Hal Herbert, the Liberal MP from Vaudreuil, that had been gathering dust ever since it had received first reading in May of 1980.
“An Act to Amend the Holidays Act” proposed to change the name of the July 1 national holiday from “Dominion Day” to “Canada Day.”[…]
The whole process took five minutes. The MPs celebrated by declaring an early end to session at 4:05 pm. “It is only appropriate that, in celebrating our new holiday called Canada Day, we should at least take a holiday of 55 minutes this afternoon,” said New Democrat Mark Rose.

But the great unravelling started in April 1982 - The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms became law in Canada on April 17, 1982.

Hatred for the the use of the Biblical term 'Dominion', and watchmen asleep at the wheel gave us 'Canada Day'.
