Lighting Candles, Moving, Polls, et al

Lighting Candles

When I was a teenager, I heard a little song that went like this...

One Little Candle

"It is better to light just one little candle, Than to stumble in the dark!
Better far that you light just one little candle, All you need's a tiny spark!"

Today, I want to celebrate the candle-lighters on Parliament Hill... the new and old MPs who are standing in defence of justice, Judeo-Christian values, and some of them even expressing unwavering witness to Jesus Christ.

They made their maiden speeches (10 minutes long) in this new Parliament, and Damien Kurek gave his farewell speech. They are worth listening to.

Let me know your thoughts about them.

Here is Dr. Matt Strauss, of Kitchener South-Hespeler, ON.

Here is Roman Baber, of York Centre, ON. He is of Jewish extraction.

Here is Andrew Lawton, of Elgin-St. Thomas-London South, ON.

Here is Damien Kurek, of Battle River-Crowfoot, in his farewell speech to trigger a by-election so that Pierre Pollievre can gain a seat in the House of Commons as Party Leader.

Let Justice Rain

But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream (Amos 5:24)

Follow the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom. They have fought for the rights of many Canadians, especially in Charter of Rights cases. Check out the CASES to read about their successes and those that are still in the courts.

These include cases of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of association. Many cases rose out of government overreach during the Covid lockdowns.

People like MP Dr. Matt Strauss above, and like many who came from Communist countries, recognized the government overreach as an exercise in Communism.

I encourage every freedom-loving, justice-loving Christian to support the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms. They stand on guard for you.

Moving...

I don't claim to understand God's providence. Sometimes, we see the purpose only while looking back.

This has been a hard year for me.

It started with my website being hacked on New Year's Eve, and weeks of disruption, followed by months of pain (as yet unresolved), lots of time in bed, loss of ability to do goal-setting, planning and implementing, and as a result, loss of equilibrium and focus.

And while struggling to get back on my feet and to get into the mindset of working on ChristianRoots Canada, we have another unexpected providence.

We are moving. Staying in Brantford, but still, moving. I want to move. It will be good for my health. It is hopefully the last one in a multitude of moves made over my lifetime. But, I HATE moving... With great passion.

And now, packing has to take precedence. My emails may become more sporadic and brief for a time. I need your help to be more efficient with my time. Please take the poll below to help me focus on emails that best serve your needs.

Take the poll.

Check out our store. And if you are planning to do your 'Staycation' in Canada, why not take our Ottawa Walking Tour.

Walk in the footsteps of Protestants like John Booth - Lumber baron, part founder of the Protestant-run St. Luke's Hospital which became the Civic Hospital.

Thomas McKay, who built the first 8 locks of the Rideau Canal system in Ottawa (known as the Ottawa Locks), the longest standing building in Ottawa (1825) which was built without a single nail (now the Bytown Museum), the St Andrews Presbyterian Church at Kent and Wellington, and Rideay Hall, which was his home originally.

If you need reasonable family accommodations, I can help you with that too.

Here's to the start of brief, relevant information.

Until next time,

Soli Deo Gloria
