Count It All Joy...

Labour Day

Happy Labour Day to you!!!

Hve you ever wondered why 'Labour Day' is a day of rest? It is the last of the 'lazy, hazy, days of Summer', where the mornings are starched crisp and cold to remind you of the approaching winter.

So enjoy the rest before the craziness of school and the extracurricular treadmill of activities that it brings to your family.

Here is a sample of the fruit of my labour since moving in mid-July:

Our balcony - a place for quiet time devotions and glorious sunsets.

One of the glorious sunsets we are blessed to enjoy daily

New Subscribers

Some new subscribers have not received any email from me to the community since signing up in the last few weeks.

And because I do not get a second chance to make a first impression, I say to them, "Welcome to the world of Canadian History from God's providential perspective."

To the many who have stuck with me over the years thru' thick and thin, you will recognize that last statement as my ' raison d'être', that colours my research.

Health Update

Regretfully, I have had to explain the following to a new subscriber:

This work is done as a ministry to the Christian community. I have been sick with chronic abdominal pain since February 2025. Every time I think I have gained control, something else happens.

Lately, there have been debilitating side effects to the medicine that gives me the most measure of pain relief to be functional. I have a consultation with a neurologist in 2 weeks to discuss the possibility of a nerve block to mitigate my pain.

I also moved in July, with the added responsibility of packing and unpacking despite these health conditions. I regret that my first impression is one of incompetence and unfaithfulness. I know that I do not get a second chance to make a first impression.

As an aside, just last night, during a spike in pain, I said to my husband, 'I have to keep speaking the truth to myself. James 1:2-4 says, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."

I have not been counting it all joy, but I complain about the setbacks, such as not having the stamina to connect with my subscribers despite completing the task of setting up our home in the face of such insurmountable odds.

I thought to include this here and 'kill two birds with one stone.'

Please be patient with me as I push through the pain and medicine issues to complete the last area of unpacking and setting up - the ofice.

I hope to be connecting with you on a more regular basis soon.

And if Brantford is your destination or a midway point in between your travels, please don't look for a hotel. Talk to us (647-514-6798) about special accoommodations, and learn the VERY interesting history of Brantford at the same time. More details to come.

Enjoy the leisureful misnomer day - Labour Day.

Until next time,

Soli Deo Gloria
